99, 6-second Tracks Playing Pure Tones (B, D, E, F#, A, C#) and Silence from a CD at Random (2015)
Eiki 7070 Players and CDs

I won an auction for 21 Eiki 7070 CD Players for $212.86 from a school in Leesburg, VA. For this installation I referred to the Red Book, which is the international standard for audio compact discs. CDs can hold 99-tracks of audio and each track must be at least six seconds in duration. These specifications, in addition to a CD player’s basic features, become the material significance of the work. The title describes exactly what happens: 99, 6-second Tracks Playing Pure Tones and Silence from a CD at Random. This work was developed at Fieldwork in Marfa, Texas.
